City of Murray, Kentucky - Fire Prevention Bureau

The Fire Prevention Bureau enforces all applicable fire safety and fire protection requirements of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), state of Kentucky laws, and City of Murray ordinances. The bureau members also work with the Building Inspection Department conducting inspections related to building safety and maintenance. This bureau will inspect all new construction, commercial, and residential occupancies within the city.

The primary responsibility of the Fire Prevention Bureau is to conduct fire investigations. Fires that are suspicious in nature or cause a large loss or fatality are investigated.

Public education is coordinated through the Fire Prevention Bureau. Fire safety and prevention programs have been designed for all age groups. These programs are available to businesses, schools, church groups, and civic organizations. Station tours are also available for groups of children.
